Julie Shore Named VP, Awards

Responsible for Primetime Emmy Awards, Engineering Awards and Television Academy Honors

The Television Academy announced today that it has promoted Julie Shore to Vice President of Awards. The announcement was made by Senior Vice President of Awards for the Television Academy, Dr. John Leverence.

Shore has become an integral part of the Awards department team working alongside Dr. Leverence for more than two decades. She is responsible for liaising with the Television Academy's Awards Committee on both implementing rules and procedures for the Primetime Emmys and interpreting those rules throughout the competition. Through this, Shore has built longstanding relationships with the various networks, studios, agencies and individual producers throughout the industry.

Shore is in charge of the annual telecast ticketing lottery as well as overseeing ticket distribution and seating for all of the nominees, networks, studios and all other VIPs attending the Emmys. Additionally, Shore handles additional award competitions that fall under the jurisdiction of the Awards department include the Engineering Awards and the Television Academy Honors.

"This promotion not only acknowledges Julie's excellent service to the Television Academy," said Leverence, "but it also recognizes the vital role that she plays in the care, maintenance and integrity of the Emmy Awards process."

Shore was initially hired as the receptionist for the Academy in 1985, and transferred the following year to the Membership Department where she worked as an assistant and later as the Membership Administrator. In 1994 she transitioned to the Awards Department and served as the Primetime Awards Administrator until being promoted to Director, Primetime Awards in 1999.
